Lean Six Sigma follows the Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve and Control, or DMAIC, project phases. Again there are several Lean Six Sigma tools that are used to help you measure and analyze this data, like the value stream map and the complexity value stream map. In order to understand how to use these tools, and achieve the desired improvements, it is important that your project staff has the appropriate Lean Six Sigma training.

Throughout the Measure phase of your Lean Six Sigma project, the various maps that are created will provide a more detailed representation of your business then the overview that is provided by the SIPOC Diagram in the Define phase.

These are just some of the tools that will be used in a Lean Six Sigma project, throughout the first two phases of that project. Another important Lean Six Sigma tool, which used in every project phase, is a guide to manage the type and amount of data that will be collected by all of the other tools, called the Data Collection Plan.

These are just some of the tools that are associated with a Lean Six Sigma project. There are many other tools, like Pareto Charts, and Control Charts, that are used throughout Lean Six Sigma, and are necessary for the success of your project. While it may seem like a lot of tools, and a lot of work, it will be worth it if you can improve your efficiency, reduce your costs, and provide a higher quality product or service for your business and your customers.

What Do You Know About Project Management Careers?

A lot of people look into project manager careers because it pays well. You can earn a good salary working as a project manager, you have to however, prove you have what it takes. There are however, always jobs available for those who prove they can do the job.

You need to deliver what people expect and you have to deliver it in time and within budget. When you start in this business you will first serve as an assistant project manager. You will move up the ranks as you learn and prove yourself competent. You might be a project manager before your first year on the job is complete if you work hard.

But if you apply yourself you might make it up the ranks and be appointed chief operating officer. This is a great area of business but you need a lot of different skills to succeed. It is a challenging position to say the least.

With any project, you first need to look at the overall picture. You need to figure when the job is to be completed, how it is to be completed, and how to complete it within your budget.

You then need to break the overall picture done into sections that can be measured. You then need to apply time frames to all the sections, the projects within the project. You will need to assign people to each project and let them know there time frame and budget.

You have to deal with different personalities so you will have to have people skills. You will have to deal with the architects and the electric contractors.

You have to deal with electronic contractors who see their work differently from the architect. But you need to bring all personalities together for a great finished product.

On large complex projects you will be part of a team of project managers. You will be assigned the part of the project relating to your strengths. If you have several strengths and have a good track record, you might be allowed to choose the area of the project you want to work on.

For instance if your background is in architecture you will be assigned to work with the architects and the contractors or if your background is electrical contracting, you will be assigned to work with the electrical contractors and oversee him and his team.

You will work under the development manager who oversees the whole project. You all will work together to bring in a quality product in time and within budget.
